[There's an extremely harried knock on Huaisang's door sometime in the evening. When he opens it, he will find Wei Wuxian with an irritated expression on his face, holding up a talisman in his hand.}

Nie-xiong. [Why does he sound like that? Is that stress? Frustration? A desperate need to be told he's cool?]

Can you do this? [And then he slaps the talisman on his chest and immediately turns invisible. Sorry Huaisang, he's having a day. If Nie Huaisang can turn invisible now, he is flinging himself into the darkness of space.]

Wei-xiong, what —

[ that's about as far as he gets before wei wuxian barrels on with his question and the demonstration that follows — which is quite impressive, actually! ]

E — eeehhhhh?? Wei-xiong, where did you go??!

[ he looks right, then left, then right again, then up towards the ceiling...

and forgets to answer the question entirely, but maybe his surprise is enough of an answer. ]

[He knew he could count on you Huaisang 😭 Forget Gwen and Itachi, you're his only friend now. After taking another moment to revel in the feelings of validation that he is finally getting, he taps Huaisang on one shoulder, grinning even though his friend can't see it.]

It's cool, right? I made a talisman for it. I thought it might help people on missions. [Well.] Some people. You know, people who can't just go invisible on their own like it's no big deal.

[ he actually jumps a little when he feels the tap on his shoulder, spinning to look at where the touch is coming from — and the voice, soon after. ]

Wei-xiong, this is so weird, I don't know if I'm looking at you or at your shoulder... [ after the two seconds of pouting, he's back to excitement though. ] It's incredible! It's another of your inventions? That's so useful! Imagine everything it could be used for... I could have sneaked out of so many saber practices with this!

[Having mercy on him (perhaps fueled by the validation,) Wei Wuxian peels the talisman off of his chest and lets out a loud laugh.]

It's really useful, isn't it? Forget getting out of saber practice Nie-xiong, imagine all of the drinking we could have done in Gusu! We wouldn't have ever had to deal with that pesky curfew!

Alright, alright. I've still got a few tweaks to do on this one to make it last a little longer, but you'll be the first one I supply when I'm done. I've got to go get to work, bye Nie-xiong! [And then just as quickly as he'd arrived, he's gone again.]

[ there is SO MUCH TO SAY THAT, but then wei wuxian is leaving and huisang is stuck there staring at where he just was and then wasn't again and — ]

[ but he's gone. ah well. huaisang turns around and shuts the door and goes back to reading. ]
